About me
I am Hon Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum. I was born on April 9, 1964, in Jachie in the Bosomtwe District, in the Ashanti Region, Ghana, to parents who were farmers. I lived through the humble beginnings in Jachie and Antobam in the Western North Region of Ghana. But, with hard work, education and determination, I have been able to achieve a measure success for myself.
I hold a Ph.D. in Education Policy and Administration from the University of Southern California and a Master’s Degree in Education Management from The University of La Verne also in California. For my undergraduate degree, I studied and graduated with a degree in Land Economy from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, Kumasi, Ghana.
PRESENT ROLES IN PARLIAMENT AND GOVERNMENT
Presently, I am a Member of Parliament of the Republic of Ghana representing the people of Bosomtwe Constituency in the Ashanti Region. I am also Minister of Education.
BEFORE BECOMING AN MP AND A DEPUTY MINISTER
Prior to assuming the roles parliament and in government, I founded and served as the Chief Executive Officer of New Designs Education Group (NDEG) in Los Angeles, California. Through NDEG, I founded The New Designs Charter Schools, also in Los Angeles California. As the CEO of this institution, I superintended the work of about 200 staff members, until I resigned in 2017 to assume my current roles in Ghana as a member of parliament and as a deputy minister of education.
MY PASSION AND VISION
I have a deep passion for education and an unrepentant belief that the best way to transform Ghana and in fact Africa is through education. I am therefore committed to education transformation in my constituency through the creation of a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Academy.
I am an international public and motivational speaker who has had audiences in Africa, Europe, the Americas and the rest of the world.
